![]() 16" Limoges Charger, Circa 1920s
item # SD68JW
Massive and magnificent 16" Limoges charger or plaque. This huge plaque is hand painted with a lush garden scene made up of brilliantly colored flowers in shades of lavender, fuchsia, orange, and pink. The dense and detailed foliage is a blending of lush greens. The background colors on the plaque shade from deep fuchsia to lavender to pale yellow. The beautifully scalloped mold is outlined with heavy gold gilding that is in excellent condition.
The artist, B. Aubrey has signed the plaque. The plaque does have a few small areas of slight wear to the paint on the high points of the beaded rim. This slight wear does not in any way detract from the beauty of the plaque. The plaque measures just over 16" in diameter and is just over 2" deep. It is double marked with the F. Legrand company underglaze white ware mark in green, circa 1920's, and the Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman company decorating mark in gray, circa 1920's. The plaque is pierced and wired for hanging. This outstanding piece is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or restoration.
