This is a linen and organdy luncheon set with and embroidery from Madeira circa 1940s. This lilac color luncheon set consists of 8 linen napkins measuring 17 by 18 inches and 8 placemats 12 by 18 inches. The napkins have scalloped edges finished with hand embroidery in one corner is a shell shaped organdy insert with hand embroidered accents, the placemats are shell shaped with linen appliqué at the edge finished with hand embroidery, there linen appliqué extends into the center with dotted accents in appliqué and hand embroidery, very lovely and unusual design-color combination.
One mat has a small repair, the set is otherwise in excellent condition. The handwork is fine, all the stitching is done by hand, the linen is of very high quality.
