![]() Austrian Floral Art Plate, Circa 1900
item # ROC14JW
Beaded edge border on the plate molds are marked: 'ROYAL AUSTRIA O&EG'. This is an antique hand painted Austrian plate with gold beaded-edge detail, circa 1900, completely hand painted by an early 20th Century American china painter.
This charming vintage beaded mold was originally made by the Oscar & Edward Gutherz Co., aka O&EG, of the Bohemian region of Austria. This very pretty, very sweet Floral miniature wild roses plate is framed with a lovely soft pink band highlighted with gold 'beads', outlining a center of barely-there softest mint green. A garland of leaves and tiny pink, ruby and white wild rose blooms with white enamel highlights, beautifully and symmetrically composed and connected by thorned stems, encircles the plate's soft butter cream with hints-of-mint center. If this exquisite plate was a perfectly professionally iced cake or petit fours confection, which it reminds us a bit of, it would be entirely too pretty to eat!
Excellent condition.
