![]() Limoges Haviland Meadow Visitor Casserole Dish with Cover, Circa 1876-1880
item # DARA04JW
This is an exceptional Haviland & Co French Limoges covered vegetable, or used as a casserole, in a very special Meadow Visitor pattern with butterflies, wild pink roses and a pink enamel trim.
The age is 1876 to 1880. The butterflies on this dish appear larger than the Meadow Visitor butterflies on other dishes, perhaps because the dish is larger. There are two butterflies on the lid, and one on each side of the bottom, and they are all different from each other. Each butterfly measures from one to two inches. Of course, there are touches of white enamel in raised relief on each butterfly, an indication of the quality of Haviland. The casserole is 13” long from handle-to-handle. It is 6 ¼” high to the top of the final. It is 6 5/8” wide. There is a foot to the dish, and that adds some height.
