These are beautiful & rare; a matched pair of antique 1840-70s French hand carved oak furniture or architectural elements; they have ornate reticulated scrolls and center floral motif medallions. Most likely was salvaged from a large piece of furniture, perhaps a cupboard or buffet. It is entirely hand carved in what looks like old European oak; the detail is superb and both are in great shape.
Very good to excellent condition. The tops are a bit uneven but could be easily sanded to a perfectly flat surface without effecting the carved edge there. The tendril tips at each end have been leveled or altered slightly to retain a symmetrical appearance. A few worm holes and one piece has a small resulting chip on a top corner.
Each is 12 1.4" at the widest, 5 3/8" tall, and 1 1/2" thick.
