Presented is a beautiful glass dresser bottle with a hinged sterling silver top made by the Gorham Manufacturing Company. This piece was made in 1895 and could be used for powder, cotton balls or any number of things one would have at their vanity or dresser. The top is decorated with lovely repousse flowers engraved with detail surrounding a monogram of the initials MFI or MFJ and the underside has a great gold wash. The actual bottle is made of cut glass or crystal and has a star pontil mark.
The rim is marked with the Gorham hallmark, sterling, a product number and the crescent moon date symbol for the year 1895.
This old piece is in very good condition and the designs are crisp. There is one chip to the glass which is only visible on the inside of the sterling rim. This is not a crack and not visible from the exterior. Originally, this piece probably had a glass stopper. This piece has come to us without a stopper. It is perfectly usable as it is seen. There are no dents, no breaks, no splits, no cracks, no other chips, no monogram removals and no repairs.
The jar measures 2 3/4 inches tall.
