Limited Edition of 150 The making of one of Xenis' wood dolls is a long and difficult process. It starts with a clay sculpt of the head, hands and shoes, which is done by artist, Ross Adams who has been working with Xenis for 10 years. Once Tania Xenis receives the clay sculpt she must alter the sculpt so that is can be done in wood. Tania makes changes and then has it cast in resin. Once the resin parts are received they are mounted on wood blocks. These are the new templates that are mounted on manual run carving machines. Once the pieces come off the carving machine they are quite rough and the real work begins. Hand sanding and detail is added using a dremel, files and sandpaper. The costumes are designed by Marlene Xenis and constructed by two seamstresses. Fabrics are chosen for their authenticity to the time period the doll represents.
