item # ROC88JW
An exquisite circa 1890s antique hand painted Haviland Limoges Plate, masterfully hand painted in the late 19th Century French Art Style with the most beautiful baroque style Roman gold scroll-work design, delicately overlaid with very fine hand drawn black filigree artwork, which consists of classic French criss cross hatchwork and acanthus style leaf flourishes along the plate's border. Three naturalistic style clusters of lavender or amethyst violets are triangularly positioned along the plates edges, and have been carefully integrated into the gold scrollwork design. A very talented porcelain artist conceived, designed and decorated this fine work of art over 100 years ago, and it remains in excellent condition today. Aside from displaying this vintage art heirloom as a wall hanging, or perhaps in a canted plate display upon a table, the relatively open central portion of this plate makes it a perfect piece for use as an under plate for a small matching powder puff jar, hatpin holder or other diminutive dressing table accessory piece, similarly hand painted with 'Violets'. Even a small companion 'Violets' Tea Pot would fit and display perfectly on this plate.
