item # ROC87JW
A jewel-like heirloom by late 19th Century master china artist M. Berger. An antique hand painted Haviland Limoges 'Violets' Fine Art Plate, or Fancy Bonbon Afternoon Tea Dish, lavishly hand painted with burnished Coin Gold, in the 'Conventional Art Style', with the gilding elegantly detailed with fine gold filigree pen work. Signed by early 1900s professional porcelain artist: 'M. BERGER'. Artist M. Berger, and his brother O. Berger (for Otto Berger), together formed the Zenith Art Decorating Studio in Davenport, Iowa c.1900 and were especially well-known for their magnificent 'conventional' art style china paintings of VIOLETS, such as this century-old porcelain art treasure. This is completely hand painted with Pickard like art quality. This handmade artistry is the result of a phenomenal amount of thoughtful design layout and skillful hand craftsmanship employed by the artist.

Excellent overall condition with one minor exception: a very fine hairline which is barely visible from the front which does not detract from the spectacular and rare artwork of this artist. Examples of Berger-signed paintings are quite rare. Sterling investment quality fine Art-Porcelain, with Coin Gold work beautifully intact, and with the china painting perfectly preserved within a lustrous glass over glaze finish. © 2007 Rosenquist Collection
