![]() Pink Apple Blossoms Limoges Floral Art Charger
item # ROC79JW
Signed by talented 19th Century porcelain artist: "H.G. McIntosh". This delicate pink pastel floral china painting, circa 1898, was hand painted upon a beautiful Theodore HAVILAND LIMOGES charger plate mold, with exceptionally beautiful scrolled and feathered raised relief patterns along the porcelain rim. The artist's soft pastel palette consists of a delicate range of pinks deepening occasionally to ruby, soft greens and pale silver blues in the background wash which the artist has skillfully condensed toward the center of the painting into the suggestion of a stylized Victorian rococo scroll, which appears to delicately float within the otherwise cloud-like background. Truly a beautiful and unusual effect, which adds a subtle element of 1890s period interest to this charming apple blossom work of art. Please note the beautiful soft pink border which this plate has, whereupon was painted only the suggestion of apple blossoms and shadow leaves, both in a subtle pink monochrome. The entire painting is subtle, feminine, pink and understated, probably not at all unlike its talented artist: H.G. McIntosh, who left her signature upon this work. Please note the gold scroll-work within the painting and the gold edge which encircles the rim.
Diameter 12-3/4". Excellent condition. Bears a Haviland Limoges pottery mark in brown. © 2007 Rosenquist Collection
