![]() 1906 Pansies Haviland Limoges Plate
item # ROC55JW
This is a very beautiful example of pansies hand painted a Century ago on Haviland Limoges. The artist applied muted lavender gray tones for her plates border which is superimposed with elegant deeper lavender cross-hatch work, with tiny raised white enamel dots applied where the cross-hatching meets. Quite unusual. The artist has also highlighted her delicate art work with beautiful Roman gold scroll-work details, creating a true Victorian masterpiece. This is a "must-have" for the pansy lover. The pansies themselves are rendered in lovely pastel tones in contrast to deeper tones of purple and burgundy. The 8.5" Haviland Limoges plate is in excellent condition. The artist has signed the work with the initials: "F.G.A.T" and dated the plate 9/6....meaning September 1906. Many long hours of artistic creation and multiple gas-kiln firings must have gone into this irreplaceable, "one-of-a-kind" Victorian treasure.
