Tea cup and saucer are signed 'M. Berger', while the matching Haviland Limoges Plate bears the signature of his brother 'O.Berger', or Otto Berger, as well as their hand written 'Zenith' marks, which was the name of their art decorating studio originally located in Davenport, Iowa near the turn of the century.
The Plate measures 7 1/2" in diameter and bears a HAVILAND FRANCE pottery under glaze hallmark in green, and the hand written 'OB' artist initials marked on the back, as well as the artist's signature on the front: 'O. Berger'. The teacup & saucer measures 5 1/2" in diameter. The tea cup stands 2" tall x 4 3/8" across handle x 3 5/8" cup opening. This set is full size, not demitasse. Both pieces bear a GDA France pottery under glaze hallmark in green of the GERARD, DUFFRAISEIX & ABBOT Company of Limoges. The teapot measures 8 1/2" long x 5" tall, and a perfectly matching violets oval lidded sugar bowl with loop handles, which measures 7" long x 3 1/4" tall, and bears T&V LIMOGES FRANCE pottery under glaze hallmark in green with a stamped date of 1896.
