![]() Hansel, The Baby Faced Bear by Steiff
item # 668500
The term “Babyfaced Bear” was coined by collectors to describe vintage Steiff bears with round heads and juvenile features. In the early 1900’s, Steiff was a cottage industry, so employees would work from home to create Steiff products. Thus, each Teddy truly was one of a kind! Some people would stuff the Teddies a little more than others, giving the head a fuller look. As time went on, these more rounded Teddies began to capture the hearts of bear lovers, and were soon considered highly collectible. Hänsel is based on an original owned by Patricia Haluga. He is made from long wavy cream colored mohair. As no ‘little one” should be without a toy, Hänsel comes with his very own wooden Steiff logo’ed yoyo, an exact replica of a 1930’s wooden yoyo discovered in the Steiff archives. North American Limited Edition of 1,500 pieces. For children 6 and over—contains small detachable parts.
