This is a very rare Haviland Limoges large american beauty roses & gold butter pat. The pattern has large roses surrounding the inner rim with one in the center. It is a Haviland classic and highly sought after. This piece is on a blank with a scalloped gold rim. The inner rim has a gold leaf wreath scroll gilding that dips down every so often. The combination of roses and gold give this pat a very rare elegant look.
This butter pat is an excellent example of the quality procelain and work the Limoges factories are known for. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or flakes and little if any wear to the gold or pattern. As with all items of antique china, there may be slight factory dot or glaze skip but nothing that detracts from the beauty or value of this fabulous plate. This piece measures approximately. 3 1/4" - 3 1/2" across. The marks on the bottom of the pat is the over glazed CH FIELD HAVILAND LIMOGES in a red double donut. The green underglaze mark is the Gerard, Dufraisseix and Abbot it is the GDA in script underlined ovr France in print. The over glazed red mark is mark #3. and the underglaze green mark is the GDA mark #1 in the Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges. These marks date this pat back to between 1900 to 1941.
