This is a victorian antique Pouyet limoge hand painted, burgundy cabbage roses, handled cracker jar with the lid. There is fine detail in the roses, buds, foliage; and variety of background colors used by the talented artist "A Till", as signed on the side. There is a bow shaped finial on the lid, beautiful handles and a scalloped edge.
All have been gilded and show light wear here and there. It does not detract. The original mold features raised detail throughout.
It is marked JPL France. This Limoges mark dates this jar, 1891 to 1932. I
t measures 8 3/4" x 5 3/8" tall.
It is in very good original condition; no cracks, or crazing. Only problems noted are a small chip out of the top, and one tiny thin scratch on the first large side rose, that would never be noticed.
