Antique hand-painted Haviland Limoges floral art chocolate cup & saucer is artist hand dated 1905. It is completely hand painted and initialed by an American Edwardian Era china painter.
This is a striking and impressive chocolate set, with bold ruby roses set against a mint green background with touches of amber, barest hints of lavender and suggestions of rose branches, and an elegant gold handle and rim. The brush strokes are strong and quick, the leaves done with just a dab of the brush, showing an experienced, confident and talented porcelain artist. Set off by such a beautifully delicate footed-cup mold, it is easy to imagine this set as having pampered many a Victorian chocolate sipper, warming cold hands and spirit against a chilly winter afternoon.
Excellent condition. Each piece bears a Haviland France pottery under glaze hallmark in green.
