This is a 'par excellence' antique Limoges Floral Art Plate created in Limoges, France, c.1900, by 'Elite Works', a world famous French porcelain art decorating studio. It is signed on the front by its talented French china painter: 'FLOREZ', and stamped 'Hand Painted' upon the back. This is a superb example of some of the luscious hand decorated floral art confections produced by the artisans of Limoges at the Turn-of-the-Century, over 100 years ago.
This decorative vintage plate is at once elegant and sweet, sophisticated and naive. The demure Violets and dainty Lilies of the Valley pair with the Pink Roses and thin mint green border with stylized floral accents outlined in gold, making this a most refined and unusual composition. The bright white background sets off the pastel pinks, lavenders and greens beautifully, and the wide Roman gold edge gives this French floral art masterpiece a most elegant frame. It is sheer perfection.
Excellent condition, with the china painting perfectly preserved within its lustrous glass over glaze finish. Bears an 'ELITE L FRANCE' pottery under glaze hallmark in green, and an ELITE WORKS LIMOGES FRANCE art decorating studio back stamp in red, as well as a third mark which reads: 'HANDPAINTED' © 2007 Rosenquist Collection
