![]() Pickard China Ruby Roses Medallion Charger, Circa 1910
item # ROC60JW
Antique hand painted English Aynsley Floral Art Plate, circa 1910, completely hand painted and signed by a superb American Edwardian Period china painter: DEON, who worked for the world famous W. A. PICKARD ART STUDIO in Chicago, Illinois during the very early 1900s. This outstanding work of vintage Art-Porcelain, with its sumptuous raised Coin Gold Paste border, has a clarity, simplicity and perfection to its artistry that will make it a crown jewel within any collection of antique hand painted roses.
Featuring a wide gold border with intricate and elegant scrolling and raised rose-motif paste work in both gold and copper, this plate is an eye-catcher even before taking into account the beautiful rose bouquet painted in its center. The dark ruby roses are set against bright and cheery foliage greens, with one leaflet in the foreground sporting a charming shade of pink. Background shades of lavender, apricot and yellow serve to accent the bolder colored blooms and make them practically lift off the plate's surface, an indication of a very talented porcelain artist. A nice amount of pure white is left behind the rose arrangement, and around the plate's rim, creating concentric rings of gold and white, leading to this lovely deep colored cameo roses painting in the center. This is a striking display piece, an elegant feature for niche, table or wall, where it will add both a soft, rich glow of gold as well as a burst of lively color.
