![]() 'The Epitome of Tea Roses' Italian Ginori Floral Art Masterpiece, Circa 1850
item # ROC23JW
This is an exceedingly rare porcelain art treasure and one, given its very large 13" diameter, which we doubt we will ever see again, as vintage Ginori pieces of this size are impossible to find. An enormous antique hand painted Italian Ginori Floral Art Plate, Charger or Plaque, completely hand painted in Milan, Italy 150 years ago by a mid 19th Century Milanese old master porcelain artist, whose specialty was roses. This consummate old world china painter of roses has long been one of the The Rosenquist Collection's very favorite rose artists. His rose paintings are extremely difficult to find, and pieces of this 13" size are unheard of. It is the largest Roses china painting by this Ginori artist which we have ever seen in all our years of collecting antique handpainted porcelain art. Although, over the years we have brought together a small collection of much smaller signed Ginori plates by this artist, none are of this monumental size and rarity. The decorative handpainted artistry of Limoges, France and Milan, Italy is very comparable in quality and beauty. Both types of china are made of highly durable 'hard paste' porcelain, which tends not to 'craze' with age, as does 'soft paste' porcelain and bone china.
Excellent condition, sterling quality, with the china painting perfectly preserved within its still-lustrous glass over glaze finish. Bears a Richard Ginori pottery hallmark in green, as well as several other art studio back stamps.
