This is a late 19th century English Staffordshire Copeland (Spode) porcelain demitasse open sugar and creamer, designed for the use of one person.
The sugar is 1 ¾” by 2 ¾”. The cream pitcher is 2 ¾” high.
The pattern number is 4603, and marked as such on the bottom of each piece. There are tiny pink and yellow roses scattered on the outside of both pieces. The tiny roses are on stems with little green leaves. The flowers are outlined, with the color added. There are small sprays of gold leaf overlay. Around the top of the creamer, and around the inside top of the open sugar are looped garlands of the tiny roses and leaves, with a looped garland of gold leaves in an overlay pattern.
There is gold trim around the edges and on the handle.
There are no chips or cracks. There is some slight crazing, which can be viewed with a magnifying glass.
The green underglaze mark is Copeland Spode China.
The blue overglaze decorating mark is for the department store of T. Goode & Co London, with a crown above.
The pattern number is handwritten in red and is 1 followed by 4603 followed by 3. Additionally, on the pitcher, there is an “x” and an “o.”
