![]() Old Bohemian Cut Glass Giant Goblet, 1850-70
item # 010747E
Presented is a giant, goblet shaped piece from continental Europe, made in the mid to late 1800s. The bohemian glass is cut and frosted with beautiful roses, leaves and ribbons. The pedestal base is round and the stem is in an orb shape.
There is a frosted engraving of the Latin words: Toujours Fidele, which translates to Always Faithful. The first letter in the first word looks like a C, but it must just be a stylized T, otherwise nothing makes sense. This piece really is huge. It would probably hold a half gallon of liquid although it looks just like a large brandy cup. It is certainly intended to be a display piece array large wide vase. The condition of this piece is excellent. There are some minor surface abrasions and scratches that are hardly noticeable. There are no chips, no cracks, no breaks, no repairs and no other problems of any kind. The goblet measures 5 inches in diameter at the mouth and is 10 1/2 inches tall.
