This is a rare 19th century French Napoleon III era gilt bronze & blown glass epergne or bud vase; it has a polychrome champleve enameled base and is intaglio etched or engraved;has a glass flute. It is rare to find one of these with the original glass intact, even more rare with not a single flaw to the glass or bronze base.
Rich, multi-colored enamel inset in the bronze base, the ornate designs are usually acid etched or cast into the metal and then hand filled with enamel. Foliage decoration is engraved or etched on the blown glass upper; and has wheel cut edges to the flared rim.
