Rare 19th century French gilt bronze/ormolu shoe or slipper pair: Match holder/striker, Louis XIV era floral decorated Brittany style slipper on engraved or machined bronze plinth. These may not be intended to be match holders; toothpicks perhaps or possibly a pair of those old Palais Royal figural pin cushions (minus the cushion).
Very good-excellent Condition. There may have originally been some sort of base. No damage, no repairs.
Gilt plinths are 4 1/8" x 2 1/2", and each is 1 7/8" tall.
