This is a rare commememorative antique T&V limoge charger with a victorian couple. It is a souvenir commemorating the 200 year birthday of the famous French Novelist Abbot Prevost (1697-1763). It depicts a scene from his great novel "Historie de Chevalier Des Grieux et de Manon Lescaut" (1731).
This charger is signed and dated by the artist "H.M. '96" on the front. The edges are completely gilded with minimal loss to the gilding. The original mold features raised detailwork near the edge and a scalloped edge.
It is marked with a rare "Souvenir T&V (Tressemann and Vogt)" limoges mark.
It measures approximately 12"; and it is in excellent condition,with no chips, cracks, or crazing.
