Depicts female sheep herder and flock; 17" x 12". There is no visible signature, but probably is American; it is inscribed in stretcher verso L Smith but that probably has no bearing on artist name.
It is encased in a superior Newcomb-Macklin style nouveau period molding with some wear to edges and several knicks but in overall good condition; overall 23 1/4" x 18 1/4".
Condition: Needs cleaning; several scrapes in upper right corner; lower left corner is a pin hole puncture.
