![]() Limoges Toast Tray with Roses item # SD50JW
This dainty tray is decorated with pink roses and greenery on a white background. We believe this tray to be an example of the "mixtion" type of decoration, a combination of hand painting and transfer decoration. The delicate pink roses have raised enamel petals, and the sides of the tray are superbly decorated with abundant, raised gold enamel work and beading. The tray is signed by the artist, but is difficult to read (please refer to the picture). The tray is double marked with the Paroutaud Freres underglaze white ware mark, in green, circa 1903-1917, as well as a blue decorating mark, which we believe to be from the Martial Redon Company. However, we have been unable to find this particular mark in any of our reference books. The tray measures slightly less than 7 ½" long and is almost 4" wide. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
